OK, let me start off by saying there is a serious misconception of what a model should be
most would say when they think of a model they think Tall,Skinny,Big Breasts this couldn’t be further from the truth
alot of models are shorter and very successful, and a very big  part of being a model is personality,if you can be confident in who you are that’s a great start,

you can’t be an egotistical vain person most will shun you for that.
I have found in my experience of modeling and i am larger then most models, that size has not affected me at all

you can be beautiful and successful as a model whether you are 7 foot tall or even 5 foot tall even at 102lbs compared to 190lbs its all in presentation  and how you portray yourself..

As you will see as you read on, i have taken 2 very different yet beautiful and successful women of SL and interviewed them for their  opinions and experiences.

Let’s speak  with JujuDoll Dancer CEO/Founder Of MODA

kk: Juju tell me what you think the perfect ideal of a model is

Juju: I’m not sure there is a perfect model if you are talking about externals attributes such as shape, size, skin, hair.  These attributes are purchased in a box, and we all have them.  What makes a perfect model to me is Attitude.

kk: what are your views on peoples’ thoughts that models have to be skinny and big breasted cookie cutter basically

Juju:Thin, is fine, but skinny is not fine. It makes avatars look imploded.  Large breasts are never fine, in RL or in Second Life.  They distort the clothing, especially in Second Life, and if you are being paid to model clothing, you owe it to the designer to suck it up and get a breast reduction.  It costs you nothing and you can have your boobs back after the show.

kk: do you think that alot of people have the wrong idea of what a model is

Juju: Apparently so.  Someone out there is telling the models that this is what it takes to become a model.  The truth is, pretty much anyone can be a model, but if you can stand out as an individual, you can be a good model who actually gets paid for doing a real job.

kk: being very successful with MODA and being a model yourself tell me
how much of your RL experience is used in SL

I brought my First Life experience to the table when I saw what the SL fashion world was doing with modeling.  What I said earlier about buying the looks from a box, its true.  We are told in Second Life that if we buy this box and wear the contents we can be a glamorous model.  For some it works that way, until a dozen other clones come along and want jobs too.  When I was train models to work for me, I want people who have gone out of their way to look unique, who have some skills aside from jumping on a pose ball.

I want someone who can adjust their own clothing, style an outfit to accentuate, not overwhelm, make poses, love the camera, walk straight, pose properly, be creative, respect the designer and… take direction.  I want someone who can take the outfit that is handed them and make it look like a million bucks, like it or not.  I look for attitude.  Attitude is an attribute in RL and in SL and if you don’t have it, you will always be a pose-ball model.

kk: Anything else you would like to add?

Juju:   I cannot tell you enough how important individuality is in Second Life.  Its very difficult to accomplish that without words.  My goal for my models is to be recognized without your name tag.  That doesn’t mean you need a custom avatar, it means your actions, your style and your external attributes have been modified enough that you are unique from the last person who bought the same skin you did.  I feel like no matter how many times I say that, we lose models all the time who don’t want to hear it.  Modeling is not about your ego. You know this, you’ve had to work hard, Kandie, and you are successful because of it.   Modeling is about your ability to sell a designer’s clothes. Not just your favorite designers, all designers.

And KandieKain, thank you very much for this opportunity to speak out.  This is a topic that somehow appears to be a little secret of the fashion world.  There are no such secrets, I promise you.

Now we speak  with Ana Boogiewoogie successful model and buisness owner of Sh*t Happens

ana-boogiewoogie.jpg

KK:being a very successful model and buisness owner and shorter amongst alot of models in SL
do you feel this has affected your success in anyway?

Ana: Not really, no. I think SL has evolved in the past year to accept models of every shape and size.

kk: in your words tell me what you think of when you think model?

Ana: I think a unique person who can wear something well and someone who is beautiful in their own way.

kk: it seems alot of people have the misconsumption to model you have to be tall skinny, big breasts, and alot of junk in the trunk
what are your views on this?

Ana: I think a model comes in all shapes and sizes in SL. Just because RL depends on being tall and skinny doesn’t mean we have to make it that way in SL. SL is our own world.

kk: what is your opinion of the cookie cutter model so to speak?

Ana: I think models who think they need to be tall and skinny are sadly mistaken. Because it’s not true at all.

kk: anything you would like to add that we have not gone over?

Ana: Just everyone be themselves. If someone tells you you need to be a certain shape, forget them and move on. because there ARE people out there who want different, not clones.

These are excellent points and views brought up from very different people, there really is more to a model then just a pretty face and a killer body, many long hours full of rehearsal’s,wardrobe, etc…

practice really makes perfect.

In closing before you judge a book by its cover, Read what’s inside you may actually enjoy it and learn more then you thought possible :-)
